She spat out, frustrated, and met their gazes. She looked at Ashlyn, and immediately knew that she'd snap back at her. "Don't you have a hangover to take care of?" She spoke with concern, still worried about Ashlyn's state, despite the rune her brother had given her.[/blockquote]Her drawings were all very different from the other. There was a recurring theme, though. There was always a group of certain people within the darker ones, which made up the majority of them. They were all light-haired with no faces, unless she chose to give them certain facial details from the people she envisioned. As she flipped through them, she saw just how recurring the group was. Did that mean something? Please. Now she was going mad. There was no way in the world that she could foresee things. That's what psychics were for, and she was no psychic. She was just an artist with a knack for blonde people. Maybe it was in her genes, just like the very talent of drawing, itself. Her mother had just given her a lot of gifts, hadn't she? Some more unwanted than others, but she chose not to think on those too much.
Victoria looked up at her sister with a hurt expression. She knew Ashlyn was honest, but she didn't like to hear that she was just a wall decoration to them. At times, she wasn't completely against sugar-coating the truth when it came to something as bothersome to her as this. At least she knew, now, though. Nothing she tried was even working for her when it came to measuring up to her siblings. Not being completely blown-out bohemian, not being a nerd, not being athletic, nothing was working! She swallowed down the knot in her throat and glanced back down at her sketchbook in hopes that it would make her feel a little better. It didn't, though, because it was a drawing of a broken porcelain mask. She remembered when she drew that. It was an extremely vivid image in her brain, and now it was giving her a sign that all this fake personality crap was going to have to end.
Formulating the plan was easy. As a child, she typically got left out when Carter was praised for being such a great hunter and when Ashlyn was scolded for misbehaving. Victoria was the one who behaved, but had no talent that was visible at that point. So she could spell all too well for a five year old. Her schooling had done her justice and she made A's on everything she did. That didn't get her anywhere with attention, though. She'd grown to dislike it. Attention. It made her uncomfortable. But at that moment, it was all she wanted. She started to try on different personalities and behavioral methods, and it was working somewhat well for her. Her siblings paid attention to what she said, as did her parents, and that was all she wanted. And yet, here she was again the same position without another mask to try on. The picture was a symbol for her from earlier on in her life. How weird was that? Shaking her head, she quickly turned over a few pages. She wasn't giving up that easily on her success plan, despite not wanting all the attention. She was the baby of the family, though. The entire family. Could she really resist wanting some attention?
She glanced back up at Ashlyn as she began to sound a little sympathetic. Hadn't left her any room to grow? Victoria didn't know exactly what she meant by that, but she took what she got. She didn't want to make her siblings feel bad for her, she just wanted them to be able to relate to her, and quite possibly treat her like a human being instead of a plant. As she went on to explain, Victoria realized that she could actually relate to her. It made her feel a lot better, honestly, to know that she wasn't alone in thinking her reasoning was justified. She solemnly looked through her sketches again and said nothing at what both Ashlyn and Carter said. She thought about it, though, and the bad thing was that they were totally right. Victoria sighed, and closed her sketchbook on a picture of the girl from the group of blonde people that she frequently drew. "It's not like I can just build up confidence in an instant like you two, okay? And plus, half the fact that I have no idea who I am isn't even my fault."
