Q: What’s a nephilim/warlock/mundane? How does a werewolf become a werewolf? Does my werewolf change into a wolf whenever he/she wants? Does my vampire have to be bitten by another vampire in order to become a vampire? What’s the Sight?
A: Look here.
Q: How many characters can I make?
A: Six.
Q: Do I have to make a separate account for each character?
A: Yes.
Q: Why?
A: Because it makes the site look neater, and neat sites look prettier and less crowded.
Q: Can all of my characters be girls?
A: No.
Q: Boys?
A: No.
Q: Why not?
A: Because limiting the number of boys/girls you make helps keep the gender ratio relatively even.
Q: Can all of my characters be werewolves?
A: If you really want them to all be werewolves. As long as they aren’t all one gender.
Q: Can my character swear?
A: Of course.
Q: Can my character have sex?
A: No. You can imply it with some skillful writing. But if the rp’ing continues after the clothes start coming off, chances are I’ll count it as breaking a rule.
Q: Why?
A: Because I’m mean that way. And I don’t want to risk getting the site shut down for breaking ProBoards rules.
Q: Can my character get pregnant/terminally ill?
A: Sure! But if everyone starts discovering they have cancer or popping out babies, I’m going to have to change this rule.
Q: Can I kill off my character?
A: Go for it. Have an epic death scene in a thread where they get hit by a car or drained by a vampire or something. I’m all for it.
Q: Can I kill off someone else’s character?
A: If they give you permission to, then of course. If you’re just going to kill them off without them agreeing that they want their character dead, then you’d better not. It’s not very polite to just go around killing people, after all. They’ve sent people to jail for that.
Q: Do the vampires sparkle?
A: Only if they’re wearing glitter.
Q: You mean they don’t sparkle in the sun like Edward?
A: Right.
Q: Why not?
A: Because MI vampires burn in the sun. They become a pile of ashes.
Q: Do they at least have special powers like the Cullens?
A: No. They get the normal vampires skills, though: super senses, speed, stealth, strength, and devilish good looks all the better for helping them lure in human food.
Q: Can I use Robert Pattinson as the playby for my vampire?
A: You can. I’d rather you didn’t because it’s really cliché, but I’m not going to stop you.
Q: Who is Sebastian?
A: Sebastian is the son of Valentine Morgenstern.
Q: Well, who’s Valentine?
A: Valentine was bad news, an egotistical and mildly insane shadowhunter who thought that the clave wasn’t doing what was best for greater good of all nephilim. So he tried to take over. He failed. Twice. The second time resulted in the end of his life.
Q: But what does Sebastian have to do with any of that?
A: Valentine turned Sebastian into a weapon by tainting him with demon blood that he fed (mixed into food, of course) to his wife while she was pregnant. When Sebastian was born, he was half demon. As he grew up, Valentine trained Sebastian so that when it was time to take over the clave, Sebastian would be a spy in enemy lines. Valentine’s plans failed, and Sebastian managed to escape (minus one hand, which was chopped off during battle) and has spent the past twenty-five years plotting revenge on the clave for killing his father.
Q: How are Sebastian’s kids half-demon shadowhunters?
A: Well, technically, they’re one-fourth demon. Sebastian was half demon because Valentine tainted his blood with demon blood when he was still a fetus, right? So, by having kids, Sebastian passed the down the demon in his genetics to all of his kids. It’s heredity, really.
Q: Uh-huh…
A: I know it’s confusing. But basically, Sebastian’s mother was completely demon, for all intents and purposes. Sebastian has half of his mother’s DNA, and half of his father’s, making him one half demon. Sebastian’s kids have half of his DNA, and therefore have half of his demon blood, making them one-fourth demon.
