I PULL YOU FROM YOUR TOWER take away your pain, show you all the beauty you possess if you’d let yourself believe that. ------ ------ ------ With no plans and absolutely no idea what to do, Kael Matthew Bane was forced to sit himself down on the leather couch and watch some TV, which he did very rarely. See, Kael normally didn’t have time for silly dramas or ridiculous reality TV shows, but somehow, he always slipped celebrity gossip into his schedule. It wasn’t like he had a choice; again, he had no plans and a warlock without a plan was the equivalent to a mundane couch potato. Chairman Meow graced the young warlock with his presence about half way into the show, which was currently comparing Miley Cyrus in a then-and-now session. It made Kael giggle. Look at what little smiley Miley had become…
The worst part about watching TV? The commercials. Now, being the incredibly stealthy and talented warlock he was, Kael normally was able to skip the commercials with ease, but one came up that caught his attention. It was one of those travel commercials, urging people to come to New York and in it was a scene of Coney Island. Finally, a light bulb went off in Kael’s head. That’s what he could do on this hot day! Spend the day in the sun at the fair! It was so perfect! He got up from his seat abruptly, sending Chairman flying off the couch, seeing as the feline had been resting on Kael’s stomach at the time. A passing Alec looked at the boy questioningly, urging him to explain himself and Kael explained that he was headed to Coney Island. Magnus, who was not far behind, warned him that he better not conjure or portal or he would have Kael’s pretty head on a nicely bejeweled silver platter. Kael only closed the door and mocked him, used to the warnings and lectures, knowing exactly what he was going to say and mouthing the words in a funny way. Shortly after, he headed to his closet and pulled out the articles of clothing that came to mind. After he’d dressed himself, he gathered his cell phone, iPod, and wallet and stuffed them in a cinch sack he’d recently received a la Magnus. He was so excited to go to Coney Island…
Until he realized that it was no fun going alone…
Well, that wouldn’t do. He took out his cell phone and scrolled through his millions of contacts. He wanted to invite Daegan, but for some reason was feeling terribly nervous, so he postponed their little date-like setup. There was the entire Midwinter family to consider, but as he made newer revelations, he crossed off his cousins one at a time: Lillian would be a grumpy pants if he dragged her away from the kitchen she’d recently won back; Max, her twin was not very fond of the warlock and usually did all he could to ignore him; Declan, Kael knew, was dealing with emotional and sexual frustration and he was in no mood to hear about it; and Theondre, the oldest, hated Kael’s guts in such a way that the warlock was afraid to be alone with him in the same room for very long. Grimacing at the last thought, Kael moved on to the Lightwoods: Ashlyn was probably so tired of being his personal entertainer and Kael didn’t want to spend the day with someone who was going to drag their feet; Carter, the target of Declan’s frustrations, would make some silly excuse that he couldn’t come and most likely blame it on his pretty faced girlfriend; Victoria…huh, thought Kael. There was nothing preventing him from calling Victoria. SUCCESS! As fast as he could, he thumbed a text to Victoria, knowing very well he wasn't disrupting anything. It wasn’t like she had a boyfriend or anything and with her two siblings out, Kael thought of it as saving her from her boredom.
To: Tori (2:53PM) From: Kael Bane meet me at the subway station in fifteen minutes. we’re going to coney island. don’t try to get out of it. i know where you live and i will come there and drag you out kicking and screaming. mmkay pumpkin?
He grinned into his phone and headed out, but before he left he loft, he peeked into Magnus and Alec’s room and saw that it was empty, which meant that Magnus’ stash of glitter was easily accessible. Boldly, Kael ran into their room, quickly rummaged through the vanity and found the color glitter he’d been looking for; silver. As quickly as he rushed in, Magnus caught him and magically dragged him out of the room, snatching the glitter from his hold and sighing. After a short, two minute argument, Alec came into the scenario and gave Kael permission to take the glitter, much to Magnus’ disapproval, but he’d never argue with his boyfriend. They both knew this, which is why Alec offered Kael a small smirk as he shut the front door.
Kael made it to the subway in record time. He didn’t want to make Tori wait for him again, so he made sure to get there earlier than her. A couple of girls giggled as Kael bought his and Tori’s subway ticket and in response, he winked at them, causing them to blush and hide behind their hair. He smirked and was about to greet them, but then he spotted Tori’s fire red hair. “TORI!”
he shouted over the crowd, waving to her so that she spotted him and was not in fear of being left alone. Carrying her clothes upstairs from the laundry room, Victoria lugged the entire load. It was remarkable how much she could lift with her small frame to consider. Hell, she got called anorexic on a daily basis but she ate all the time. Stupid metabolism. Actually, no, Victoria really appreciated her metabolism. She didn't have to worry about getting out of shape because it wouldn't let her. She nudged the door to her bedroom open with her hip and collapsed on the bed, atop the clothes that were in her arms and were now scattered on the bed. Taking a deep breath, Tori started to organize them according to how she had them in her closet. She was always very organized when it came to things like her clothes, or even her school work, though the latter's organization only lasted until halfway through the year before it got out of whack.
Putting them up a few articles at a time, Victoria got down in about five minutes time. That wasn't too bad, considering how many items there were in the first place. Her wardrobe looked a lot more full now, thank goodness. It was beginning to look barren because she never took her hamper down to the laundry room. She was usually caught up in something else that she considered more important. Thankfully, she had enough clothes to let her do so until a certain point of emptiness started to become more apparent in her closet. Taking out one of her favorite dresses, Tori got dressed. She didn't want to stay inside all day again today. It was such a nice day, so she could at least take a walk in central park or something.
After running her hands over her dress to straighten it, Vic jumped at the sound of her phone ringing. She went over to her bedside table and checked it. Kael? Again? She thought one hang out would bore him enough to where he'd never ask again, but she was glad to be proved wrong. As opposite as they were, they seemed to get along swimmingly and Victoria always had a good time around his amusing self. Grinning, she slipped on some shoes and jewelry before jogging downstairs and out the door. Her parents weren't home, so it wasn't like she had to tell anyone where she was going. Besides, if they were so curious, they could text her and ask. Reasonable and doable.
Tori walked quickly towards the subway. She didn't want to keep Kael waiting too long if he'd gotten there already. Upon arrival, there was a big crowd of people. Mostly girls, giggling about some boy who'd just made them swoon or something. Fighting the urge to roll her eyes, Victoria looked away, turning her glance to the boys in the crowd to see if she could spot her oh-so mischievous cousin. Just then, she heard her name and spun around in a split second to see Kael was the one who shouted it. Grinning, Tori made her way over to him and waved a friendly wave, "Hi!"

I PULL YOU FROM YOUR TOWER take away your pain, show you all the beauty you possess if you’d let yourself believe that. ------ ------ ------ Kael was glad that she heard her. It was terribly noisy in the subway station today. Hopefully, not everyone had the same idea as he and his cousin. Coney Island was popular during hot, humid days like today, but considering it was a weekday, Kael was hoping that most of these unfortunate souls had to go to work. It always made him giggle to think of working. Kael was not the workaholic type, neither was Magnus, which is where the younger warlock supposed he picked it up from. Now Alec, on the other hand, was a workaholic and Kael honestly couldn’t understand it. If someone needed help, then sure, maybe, if his schedule was flexible enough, but Alec always went out of his way to help people. It was a nice thought and a nice gesture, but did he realize that doing all those things hardly left time for himself? Between handling Clave business and two party orientated warlocks, you’d think the man would have common sense to sit down and take a breather. But no, he never did; because Alec was Alec and he did things his way, which sometimes wasn’t the logical way. He was like Uncle Jace that way.
She grinned and made her way towards him, waving, and shoving her way through the crowd. Aw, even her grin was cute and Kael couldn’t help but grin in return, especially when his little fangirls complained about “his lucky girlfriend” and “the nerve on her.” Huh, well that was the first he’d been told. It was true that he and Victoria looked nothing alike, considering that even their parents weren’t really related and that Kael was adopted, but he never thought that he and Tori acted like a couple. It was a very awkward way of putting it and so in order to move away from the subject, Kael handed Tori her ticket and boarded the subway with her. “Ready for the most awesome day of your life?”
he asked, somewhat kiddingly, but mostly seriously considering he wasn’t going to let her leave Coney Island with anything short of a big stuffed teddy bear. The subway ride was a normal ride, nothing much to report in Kael’s opinion. It smelled and the air was stale and heavy. Luckily, Kael had found him and Tori a couple of secluded seats so that they weren’t forced to sit next to any weirdoes, which was always a nicety. Kael heard a murmuring and at first thought that someone was looking at him again, because he was all too used to it and honestly arrogant, but when he turned around to find the owners of the voices, he found a group of mildly attractive boys looking at Tori. He didn’t know if she noticed, but he did and it caused him to smile. Sometimes, it was like she had no idea how attractive she really was. Of course, being her male cousin, Kael wasn’t happy about said boys looking at his little cousin and since Carter wasn’t aboard, Kael felt responsible to scare them shitless, so he did. He threw them a nasty and warning glare, which sent them squirming in their seats. Needless to say, they disembarked on the next stop. [/blockquote][/blockquote] --- --- --- “FINALLY!”
Kael shouted as he got off the subway and stretched out his back. Honestly, the worst part about riding the subway was how long it took to get from point A to point B. Seeing that the line to buy carnival tickets was relatively short, Kael grabbed hold of Tori’s wrist and practically dragged the poor girl onto the line all while smiling. He figured she wouldn’t appreciate him stealing someone else’s tickets, so he decided to actually pay this time… [/blockquote][/blockquote] ------ ------ ------ Word Count: six three two Tags: Tori, darling Notes: Kael's like a kid in the candy shop... Victoria was glad that she could hear rather well. She supposed it was the whole one sense for another rule. She wasn't the loudest of people, so maybe she could hear better? Whatever, it was weird logic, but it made sense. Well, at least, it did to Tori. It seemed reasonable. She supposed she could be loud if she really tried, but why bother? Everyone already knew her as little, timid, quiet Victoria who wouldn't hurt a fly. She supposed that was a good reputation to keep. At least she didn't have any known enemies. Being timid all the time was such a bore, though. Maybe she'd snap out of it sooner or later and just be herself, but everyone seemed to like this version of her more than any of the others that she'd tried. Then again, did she always have to be so complex a person?
It was the real Victoria smiling and waving through the crowd at her cousin, though. One couldn't fake natural positive behavior like that. Even as a child, she was always really smiley and positive about just about everything. It was hard to upset her, but when she gets upset or frustrated, you'd know it. She'd always been an open book with her emotions, basically broadcasting them through her body language. It was unfair, but it was something she couldn't control. There wasn't a body language or emotion switch to her brain or body, so she gave up on trying to mask that, too. So many masks at once, yet she seemed to balance them with ease. Years of practice, she guessed.
Strange. Victoria didn't remember agreeing being Kael's girlfriend. She sent confused looks to the rambling and grumbling girls and raised an eyebrow at her cousin. Was there something he wasn't telling her? Of course, this was all figurative and rhetorical. And almost revolting. This was Kael. Then again, these were just outsiders to their world and family. She felt rude, having practically judged them without the right to do so. Tori took her ticket gratefully and grinned up at Kael, having pushed away all the prior weirdness when she'd walked through the crowd. "Um, sure?"
She laughed and turned the ticket a few times in her hands. Honestly, she was pretty excited for this journey to Coney Island. She hadn't been there much, and she really adored the place. Nothing really happened on the train ride to it, though. She glanced out the subway windows idly as they went, blocking reality out for the moment being. - - - - - - - Skipping her way off of the ride, Victoria stretched modestly as she landed on the solid ground, unlike her friend. She giggled at Kael's loud entrance to the stop, admiring how he was himself no matter who he was around or where he was. It was something she really liked about him and probably always would. Maybe even envy about him, too. She chose to ignore that little factoid, though. She felt a hand on her wrist and just knew what would happen next. Obediently, Vic followed Kael to the line. She was rather impressed with the boy. "You mean you're going to actually follow the rules?" She smirked up at him, feeling weirdly outspoken today. She didn't know why, but she was feeling pretty comfortable with just letting her normal self speak. If her normal self was even her normal self, that is. Oh, she was going to give herself a headache with all these identity dilemmas. [/blockquote] tagged; kael <3 words; 590 outfit; here!notes; REPLY AHOY. [/blockquote]

I PULL YOU FROM YOUR TOWER take away your pain, show you all the beauty you possess if you’d let yourself believe that. ------ ------ ------ He heard her giggling at his stretching and impatience, but Kael honestly couldn’t muster the appropriate patience to ride public transit everyday. It would be so much easier if Magnus would just let him use a portal! Then again, most of his destinations were around the corner from the loft, right in walking distance, so there wasn’t much need for a magically conjured portal. Just about the farthest building away from the loft was Kael’s favorite arcade, but that was merely a fifteen minute ride via subway or twenty minutes in a cab. Most of the time, he took out his iPod and ignored everyone publically, but he found it rude to listen to music and leave his darling little cousin practically alone on the subway—since Kael was oblivious to everything around him once those ear buds were in his ears—so he’d kept it in his bag like a good boy and made sure their arrival went smoothly. He’d managed to compensate with his phone, sending texts left and right between many contacts who all had something to say 24/7.
“You mean you’re going to actually follow the rules?” she asked, a small smirk on her face. Kael didn’t really see what was so baffling about it; he followed the rules plenty of times, just only when he felt like it. Admittedly, this wasn’t often, but he still conformed to the rules of society, just his society; not the mundanes’. Mundane society was much too restricted for an elaborate and mischievous warlock like himself. There was hardly any time left for fun, like Coney Island! “You call it following the rules; I call it avoiding unnecessary trouble,”
he said when he accidentally locked eyes with one of the security guards. It was like the word “TROUBLE” was printed across his gorgeous forehead. The guard was already wary of him and Kael simply waved and smiled before turning to his cousin. She was oddly outspoken this particular evening, more daring with her words. Kael rather liked this side of her, the side she kept under wraps, under those precious, innocent red locks of hers. Though it wasn’t like he didn’t understand why she kept herself under wraps. With an overprotective bastard-of-a-brother and a fiery attention seeking-dare-devilish sister, what girl in her right mind wouldn’t play the innocent bystander? Tori, Kael realized, was very smart. People really didn’t give her as much credit as she deserved, did they? And Kael realized he was one of those people. As they inched up the line, he realized. When they were second from the teller, Kael swung his backpack around and dug out his wallet. He grinned when he saw a fifty tucked under all his loose change and couple dollar bills. Aw, Magnus was so nice, giving him money to spend and all. Though, with this money probably came the condition of “treat Tori to something nice.” Not like Kael was going to forget about his cousin, or anything. He’d mentally promised her a giant teddy bear and by golly, he was going to keep that promise! Even if he had to take down a couple of eight year-olds to do it! Finally, it was their turn to pay for tickets and before Tori even thought about paying for hers, Kael shoved himself in front of her immaturely and held out the fifty dollar bill to the teller-lady. She seemed surprised that he had a big bill, but then wiped the surprise off her face. “Two, darling,” said Kael normally and the teller raised an eyebrow at his use of the term “darling.” Too bad, she was one of the few people who didn’t know Kael Bane. She handed them their tickets, uttering a “have a good time” and Kael smiled in reply. After he counted his change to make sure he wasn’t jipped, Kael tucked his ticket into his front pocket and handed Tori hers. With a grand wave of his hand, he indicated all of Coney Island. “What should our first stop be?” he asked her excitingly. “Whatever you want, you can have it, so speak now or forever hold your peace.” [/blockquote][/blockquote] ------ ------ ------ Word Count: six nine seven Tags: Tori, darling Notes: xD Lyrics: Adia by Sarah Mclachlan Outfit: fun in the SUN!
