[/b] she asked kindly and a tad suspiciously.
She was greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant. With a smile, she uttered thanks as the doorman offered to take her shawl and escort her to the waiting area. Rin shook her head kindly, informing the man that she indeed had a reservation, but allowed him the chivalry of taking her shawl. When she entered the waiting area, she was again immediately greeted by the host. Gabriel, his name was, and a good friend of hers. He regarded her and inquired about her table of choice. She laughed, said she would take the usual table and with a charming smile, he showed her to it.
Cipriani’s was a place she came to often. Rin was a fan of Italian food and not a fan of crowds and this particular restaurant provided her with both an excellent meal and her solitude. It was a good place to talk over dinner, about whatever it was she and her date would speak of. Today, she was here strictly for business. She was meeting with someone in the demonic trade, a person in which could provide her with what she needed for a reasonable price. Sure, it would cost her a pretty penny in a nice lunch, but she’d rather pay once than thrice and taking all of her options into consideration, Rin supposed that eating at Cipriani’s would be less expensive in the long run.
This train of thinking was, of course, before she received a text message that stated her appointed date would not be attending because…well, he was in some trouble with the Clave. She sighed and rolled her eyes. This was to be expected of him; he always found someway to intervene with the Clave. It was like he planned it. Why she continued to depend on him, she wasn’t sure. Perhaps it was because he was a trustworthy friend and trustworthy people were hard to come by nowadays. Her waiter came over and asked if she was all right and she’d smiled and said she was ready to order her beverage.
She was treated to some lemon water and Chateau Petrus red wine and then was given a lunch menu. She smiled idly, again realizing that the prices were not printed on the menu. It wasn’t like she was one to worry; now, that poor sap of a fellow a few tables over, who was with what looked like his first girlfriend, was screwed. If he thought his father’s twenty dollars would cover their meals, he was in for a rude awakening. Even Rin had been awe-struck upon her visit. Of course, that was years ago, when the US currency was different, but still. Drawing her attention away from the young couple and to her menu, Rin deliberated on what she’d order. She’d had at least all these dishes once, so it was a question of what she was in the mood for. Spaghetti was not on her agenda, neither was the eggplant parmesan. She sighed again and then felt someone there. She at first thought it was the waiter, but when she looked up over her menu, she was surprised by what she saw. “And what brings you to my table?”
