I FELL OUT OF HEAVEN to be with you in Hell, my sin’s not quite seven Nothing much to tell Her Nightwish CD had just finished by the time Stella was done painting her nails. She admired them sweetly, turning her hand in all different angles so she could get a better look and check for any flaws. With one hundred years of practice, there were no flaws and she hadn’t been expecting any. She would have been quite disappointed in herself if she’d caught one. If a lady knew how to do anything, it was paint her own fingernails. She grinned, quite amazed of how the gold glitter polish looked so much better on her hands than it did in the bottle, but then again, everything looked better on her. She made sure of it. With a light chuckle to herself, she hopped off of bed and looked out her bedroom window. It was going to be a good day, she decided, so why not make it better by visiting her favorite warlock? Merrily, she walked to her closet and contemplated on what to wear. She wanted something that would wow him, even if he wasn’t mutually attracted to her, but that was all right; she would have him. It was only a matter of time now. He was getting easier to figure out, like an almost completed puzzle. It was easier to make him fluster now, to make him pay attention. When she spoke, he listened and she was personally invited to all his parties. She would most definitely have him.
Kael Bane was a stubborn boy, but his antics in playing hard to get only made her want to chase him further. It made him worth the wait. She settled on a velvet dress, pink in color and adorned with little black hearts. She felt cutesy today as opposed to bold and outgoing and her clothing would most certainly reflect this. When she’d fitted it on, she twirled in it in front of her mirror, watching how the bottom hem flew up in the air and twirled around her thin body. She smirked; oh, this was most definitely the dress of the day. After fetching a pair of silver skinny leggings, she grabbed for her usual choice in accessory and headed out the door, though not before feeding and petting her turtle Costello. He deserved her every effort, after all.
She knew the way to the Bane’s loft by heart now and she happily made her way there, tuning out everything around her, including the suspicious-mugger looking boys who followed her for two blocks before apparently losing interest. The good thing about being a warlock was that she didn’t have to carry around something as cumbersome as a pocketbook, which made her an undesirable target. Her heels clacked against the pavement of the early morning, with hardly another soul up and about. Stella stopped in her tracks, wondering if her Prince Charming was awake at this hour. After checking her watch for the time, she determined he would be and if not, she would be more than happy to do the honors of waking him up.
Stella walked up the loft, immediately recognizing the building for its dinginess and overall industrial look. She grimaced slightly at the sight of it; he could do so much better, Kael. Why he insisted on living with Magnus and Alec, she would never understand, especially when she would eagerly offer up her place to him, even if only for a night. It was much better than this…and cleaner, but she supposed that no matter the condition, home was home. She’d know that as well, being raised in the dark 1900’s. Balancing herself as she climbed the stone steps, Stella brushed herself off and rang the buzzer. She clasped her hands behind her back and swayed impatiently before ringing the buzzer for a second time, this time with more of a demand. Finally, the door unlocked and Stella cheerily made her way up the stairwell.
When she arrived at the loft’s front door, it was already open and Kael was leaning against the door casually, which only made her want to pin him there, but she kept her close distance and instead of pinning him against said doorway, she regarded him with a smile and waved sweetly, nearly shyly. Again, she was feeling rather cutesy today, which is why she giggled when she saw Kael’s expression. “Did I wake you? I’m sorry.”
Stell waited for his answer before looking past him to see an empty loft. This intrigued her, so she invited herself inside, walking past a grumpy Kael and into the apartment, looking around. She smiled brightly innocently and turned to face Kael, her dress twirling around her waist from the motion. “Magnus and Alec aren’t home?” she asked. [ YOU MUST CRY TOO when you see the broken promises I’ve made you keep saying that I’ll trust you, though I seldom do. ------ ------ ------ Kael was rather enjoying his prolonged sleep, snuggled all tightly in his blankets and his pillows perfectly fluffed. It was by rare chance that he got to sleep in late, for Alec never let him when he could very well be doing something he considered productive and Magnus usually hauled his ass out of bed for a morning lesson that usually resulted in Kael falling asleep anyway, which then, of course, earned him more lesson time later in the afternoon. Today, however, they were both apparently out doing errands because when Kael awoke, he was surprised to see the time that read on his usually abused alarm clock. Nine o’clock: it was a record! Chairman had been the one to awake him, mewing from the floor to be fed, most likely. Kael found he couldn’t be mad at the little gray tabby, though. At least someone in this house had the decency to wait until after seven o’clock.
So he lifted himself from bed, feeling most relaxed and walked into the kitchen to retrieve the cat food. The Chairman padded along friendlily beside him like a dog been told to heel. Kael chuckled at the little guy; he was so damn cute. Said damn cute cat didn’t seem to appreciate it all that much as he let out an unpleasant yowl in response. “All right, all right Your Highness. I’m going, I’m going,”
he said in between yawns. When he’d finally reached the kitchen, he reached up into the cupboard to pull out the dry cat food. Magnus put the cat food up high because he’d caught the little rascal enjoying a midnight snack on more than one occasion. Pouring it into a small bowl, Chairman came running and rubbed against Kael’s legs lovingly. When the water dish followed, he forgot all about the boy and dug in. Watching the Chairman dig in made Kael’s stomach growl pleadingly and so he went into the fridge and pulled out some strawberry yogurt, his favorite. It didn’t matter what time of the day it was, strawberry yogurt always hit the spot. He pulled back the lid and stuck his spoon it, bringing it to his lips and smiling contently. Yeah, strawberry was definitely the best. Pulling out a chair with his foot, Kael sat down and ate his breakfast with his cat—who he really did consider his cat because he took care of him most of the time—in peace. Once Chairman was done, he hopped onto the table and demanded attention, which Kael gave him automatically. He’d learned that it was better to pet the cat right then and there than to have him— Scurry away? No, that wasn’t right. Suspiciously and with the spoon midway into his mouth, Kael’s gaze followed the cat as he ran into Magnus and Alec’s room to hide behind the vanity. Not a moment later, the buzzer rang and now everything made sense. The cat was too shy for his own good. The young warlock wasn’t in the mood for company this morning, enjoying his yogurt fully, so he ignored the buzzer with a shrug and continued eating. But then it rang again and Kael knew Magnus would have a cow if he was ignoring a potential customer. So reluctantly, he abandoned his strawberry yogurt on the kitchen table and unlocked the outer door. As he neared the front door, he heard what definitely sounded like heels clacking against the stairs. He opened the door to see a familiar head of bleach blonde hair and he wanted to groan, but did not. Even if it was Stella, that would have been rude, so his face portrayed an unhappy scowl instead. He leaned against the door, waiting for her to hurry up so he could get back to his breakfast. Suddenly, he envied the cat for running away… An eyebrow rose at Stella’s choice of outfit today. Sure, she always expressed herself like Kael did, but she was wearing a light pink dress with little black hearts. Reluctantly, he inwardly admitted that it looked nice on her, especially the way it hugged her waist and fell a little ways past her thighs. Averting his gaze from her nice thighs, he looked up to see her wave and giggle. “You didn’t wake me,” he assured her, though he should have said “yes, you did, so get out of here so I can go back to sleep.” The only reason why he hadn’t was because she said she was sorry and Stella wasn’t normally the type to apologize for her actions. This threw him off balance. Her gaze went past him for a minute and then less than a second later, she invited herself in, bypassing an annoyed Kelly. “Sure, come on in…,” he muttered. Classic Stella. Twirling to face him, Kael had to again avert his gaze from how the dress rode up. “Magnus and Alec aren’t home?” she asked, rather excitedly. What did it matter, anyway? “They’re out,” he said simply. She didn’t need the details and in all honesty, Kael forgot where they went… [/blockquote][/blockquote] ------ ------ ------ Word Count: eight five five Tags: Stella, my stalker <3 Notes: Yes, you did. xP Lyrics: Stubborn Love by Kathy Troccoli Outfit: Orange sweatpants and a black tank -was too lazy for polyvore-

I FELL OUT OF HEAVEN to be with you in Hell, my sin’s not quite seven Nothing much to tell She saw him raise his eyebrow, which was a good thing in her mind. It meant she’d caught his attention. She smiled, more so to herself than at Kael; so he liked little pink dresses, did he? She made a mental note to remember this for next time. His gaze wandered from her dress to the stairwell, Stella couldn’t think but how cute he was: messy black hair and sweats, in nothing but a fitted tank top that clung to his skin in places she admired. It brought out the hard muscles underneath, the muscles she wanted to feel for herself. “You didn’t wake me,” he said and Stella outwardly looked relieved by this. Inner Stella, however, wouldn’t have cared if he was awake or not. When the princess came, her prince was expected to come and greet her and he had, oh so loyally.
“Sure, come on in…,” he muttered as she bypassed him and she ignored this. Kael was a very grumpy person in the morning, this was fact. She’d gotten used to it, learned to have his snarky remarks flow in one ear and out the other. She learned to hear only what she wanted to hear. And see what she wanted to see. Again, his gaze wandered from her and she frowned slightly at this. The point was to look at her, look at how her dress fitted her so nice. Stupid Kael. She’d have to teach him everything, wouldn’t she? When Kael said Alec and Magnus were out, a slight grin made its way to her fine lips. As she did outside, she clasped her hands behind her and swayed her hips back and forth as she looked at him thoughtfully. He seemed tired still, like he’d just rolled out of bed, and annoyed. Her face reflected hurtfulness. “You aren’t happy to see me, Kelly?”
she asked, not at all caring that he hated the nickname. If Magnus was allowed to use it, then she was too. She gestured to the empty loft. “It must be terribly lonely here when you’re by yourself.” Stella moved closer, nearly inches apart. Since Kael was taller than her, Stella rolled onto the balls of her feet, getting even with him. She felt bad, really she did. It wasn’t fair for her Kelly to wake up lonely every morning. This wouldn’t happen if he’d just accept her offer to come over every once in awhile; it didn’t even have to be everyday. But he’d declined every time and Stella was left to assume that he purely wasn’t interested and that hurt, but she’d been getting closer to him, figuring out the man that was Kael Bane and he wouldn’t let her so close if he wasn’t truthfully interested, would he? “You don’t want my company?” she asked, drawing closer and placing her hands on his abdomen. As she suspected, he didn’t reply, just looked down at her like he always did. It frustrated her, the way he looked at her. There was nothing in his gaze; no want, no interest, not even a slight of concern and yet here she was, madly in love with him. Whether it was pathetic or devoted, she didn’t know, but she had to have him. She had to. She’d gotten so close to him once before and then he’d forgotten. It wasn’t fair. If he’d plainly rejected her, that would have been a different story, but he hadn’t. He hadn’t! It was always a sea of mixed signals with him, always. It just wasn’t fair. She was the princess; she wasn’t supposed to be the one submitting herself. Her head bent to the floor while she calmed and collected her thoughts. She couldn’t think like this; it’d drive her insane. Determined, she looked up at him with honest eyes, “Kael—” but he’d already begun to speak. [ YOU MUST CRY TOO when you see the broken promises I’ve made you keep saying that I’ll trust you, though I seldom do. ------ ------ ------ Naturally, Stella didn’t seem to hear him as he muttered about how unwelcomed she was. It wasn’t his fault; Kael was anything but a morning person. He hated being awoken, which is why Alec and Magnus usually got the brunt of his grumpiness, but they’d grown used to it and like Stella, they ignored him until they found a chance to communicate to him without his remarks and sarcasm. His grumpiness disappeared when her dressed twirled, replaced with a slight discomfort. When he looked back at her, she looked disappointed and Kael couldn’t understand why that was so. A woman shouldn’t be putting herself out there like she did. It was the man that supposed to fall head over heels, even he understood this. If it was to impress him, then it did; he wouldn’t avoid his gaze if it didn’t affect him, after all.
An eyebrow twitched obviously at the nickname “Kelly”; again, not his fault, he hated the nickname ever since he was a child and everyone knew that so why they insisted on making him angry, he didn’t know. He was about to remind her that he disliked the choice of name when she asked him a very innocent question. “You aren’t happy to see me, Kelly?” No, he immediately thought, that wasn’t it. Despite all her lust and charm, she was very good company and Kael often found himself wishing it was more comfortable to be alone with her so he could invite her to Exuberance or something. They’d both have a good time, he knew, since they were very similar. They both had memberships; the only thing keeping them from an exciting night out was her determination.
No, that wasn’t it either. It was his fault, all of this. He’d taken an interest in her once and pursued her, kept her waiting for more, but then he’d left without a word and moved on; he’d even become bisexual for another man, a man that’d hurt him like no other could. It’d been karma, and he’d known that. He’d hurt her, defiled her in a way that a man was hanged for in the older days, but she kept coming back with earnest love and he couldn’t deal with it. He didn’t know how. He was flawed and she was not; he was regretful and she had nothing to apologize for; he was guilty and she was the object of his mistakes. That was why he couldn’t be alone with her, because he was reminded of all this and worse of all, he would be tempted to do it again. It was anyone’s but her fault. No, not Stella. She was just a girl in love and he was the one who’d used that to his selfish advantage. She’d been a princess and he the dark prince. It’d been anything but her happily ever after and he’d been the one to take it away from her.
“It must be terribly lonely here when you’re by yourself.” When he looked back up at her, she’d moved closer and closer, standing on her tippy toes to reach his height. This made him chuckle slightly; even in heels, she was shorter than he. But then he processed her words and found them true. It all too often that he’d wake up to just Chairman, not even a note explaining where the two of them had run off to. It was in those times that he questioned why he stayed around; did they want him anymore? “You don’t want my company?” she asked and touched his abdomen tenderly. He did want her company, but it was easier to forgive someone else than it was to forgive yourself. He could feel the velvet from her dress, smell the lip gloss she’d put on. It was all too taunting. It was going to make him give in. He found himself touching her bare shoulder, looking at the patch of skin like it was his strawberry yogurt: hungry, satisfying, what he’d been craving all along. “Kael—”
He drew back away from her in a whip like motion. He couldn’t do this. He looked at her, saw how hurt she looked and he mentally kicked himself. Hard. Really, really hard. “Stella, I can’t—we can’t do this. How can you let yourself settle for second best?

I FELL OUT OF HEAVEN to be with you in Hell, my sin’s not quite seven Nothing much to tell She laughed when his eyebrow twitched. He did that so often when called by his nickname; it was like an automatic reaction now. He even did it to Magnus, which she found surprising sometimes because it was unfathomable how much Kael respected his adoptive father. Literally, she couldn’t understand it. It wasn’t like Kael had a biological father he could’ve practiced his affection on and surely Magnus had no idea what it was like to love like a father. Then again, Stella had the same dilemma. Her mentor was simply like an elder brother, nothing to get all affectionate over and that was only when he was teaching her. When she was alone, she forgot about him most of the time, however heartfelt that sounds.
His rage from being called “Kelly” calmed as soon as he processed the rest of her question. Huh, well that wasn’t the reaction she was expecting, but in all honesty, she liked it better. It meant he was thinking it over. If there was one thing Kael was good at other than making out, it was taking both pros and cons into mind, deciding for himself if something was truly worth it. Stella tilted her head teasingly; he couldn’t see anything wrong with spending a day with her; there was nothing wrong with it. They both had similar tastes and both were wildly popular. If anything, they’d have more fun together than alone and what was the sense in partying when you didn’t have desirable company? No, he wouldn’t find any cons in her suggestion.
But then his expression changed again, this time more solemn, more in depth. She’d pointed out that the loft must get terribly lonely without Alec or Magnus around and she started to think she’d gone too far. That wasn’t a very fair statement, she realized; it wasn’t necessarily their fault that they were always out and about, with Magnus being the High Warlock of Brooklyn and Alec being an active Shadowhunter. They both worked their asses off for him and his happiness, but still…was it better to have luxury or company? Kael had to make that choice and Stella was willing to wait for his answer; she knew the answer, but Kael was different from her. He actually devoted himself to people he called family.
A sudden warmness alerted her that he was touching her bare skin, her shoulder, where the strap of the dress didn’t touch. She smiled contently and looked up too meet his eyes, before realizing that his gaze was different than his normal one. It was hungrier, greedier, more…demonic. She said his name quickly to gain his attention back and it seemed to work because as fast as a recoiled whip, he drew away from her in a wild panic.
He looked at her with an astounded look, recognizing the hurt on her face. He might as well have pushed her away, or slapped her across the face. So many signals, so many desires. Why couldn’t he just make things clear? Tell her to get out and never come back? But no, again, he wasn’t doing that! It’s wasn’t fair, Kael! It wasn’t—! “How can you let yourself settle for second best?” She froze. Second best? No, no, no, no. Stella Cecilia Judas was never second best. She was never—oh, so that was it. She froze, going rigid all over. So that was it. That’s the game he was playing, the same game he’d been playing all along. But wasn’t that taking “hard to get” to the extreme? “So there’s someone else,”
she said, under her breath. She looked at him furiously. “Well? Who are you preoccupying yourself with this time?” Harsh? Yes, but so was he. She fixed her dress strap, where Kael had messed it to touch her shoulder. She wanted him, but she had her dignity to uphold. “I am not second best, Kael Bane; you’re just blinded by your hubris. You treat me as if I’m beneath you, but may I remind you who made the first move?”[/blockquote][/blockquote] --- Word Count: six eight two Notes: xD Tags: Kelly, honey Lyrics: Lust by Raveonettes Outfit: Stella-01

[ YOU MUST CRY TOO when you see the broken promises I’ve made you keep saying that I’ll trust you, though I seldom do. ------ ------ ------ He knew what he was doing to her and it was the realization that made it harder for him to look at her. She looked so haunted, so lost with herself. And he’d been the one to do it to her only a few years ago, when he’d finally given into his lustful desires for a girl like her, when he’d—no, he didn’t even want to think about it. God, why was she doing this to him? He knew he should have run when he had the chance. Speaking of which, where was that damn cat? How come he wasn’t out here sharing his owner’s pain?
He knew what the right thing to do was; he knew he should have told her to leave, to never come back—no, not even to look at him ever again, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it. But why? Why couldn’t he? He was confused and for a change, he was not on his game today. Surely, he didn’t still hold feelings for the witch? He shook his head, no, of course not. He loved Daegan; he’d proved it at his latest party, the one she coincidentally wasn’t invited to and that was because he’d had every intention to declare their relationship that night. Then why did he wince at the sight of her tightening muscles? Why did he want to speak soothing words to her until she cried on his shoulder? Why was he even offering his shoulder for her to cry on? Because he was guilty, he decided, because in the end, it didn’t matter how many excuses he came up with, it was his entire fault. He’d played her like a beautiful harp, only to leave her in shambles.
“So there’s someone else,” she said and Kael was about to reply when he realized that it wasn’t a question, but a statement. Her look was not a pleasant one, but then again, she had every right to be unpleasant in front of him. However, she didn’t have a right to ask who it was he was in love with. That was his business and his business alone. It didn’t matter that he felt responsible for her misery; she wasn’t going to lay a hand on him, not while Kael was still breathing. “That’s none of your concern, Stella,”
he said carefully, watchfully. His eyes never left hers, not even for a minute as he contemplated the idea that she was already digging through his mind. She was plenty capable of it; no doubt she’d dug around in there more than once. Yet, he never pushed her out. What a grave he was digging for himself. Kael watched as she readjusted her dress strap. In all honesty, he didn’t remember messing up; he only remembered wanted to get around it, to see the bareness of her shoulders, to see her vulnerable to him. The thought made him shudder, like he’d been controlled and just awaking from the possession. “I am not second best, Kael Bane; you’re just blinded by your hubris.” Well, that stung. Sure, he knew he was arrogant and proud of himself, but hubris? He’d never thought so. How could one feel better than God when he did not believe in such deity? “You treat me as if I’m beneath you, but may I remind you who made the first move?” That stung even more. She didn’t think he knew? Didn’t think he’d been thinking about it? Kael thought about the moments with her every time she was near him. He was reminded of his sins and the inability to escape them. They were only half human, after all, were not permitted to ask for salvation. He pursed his lips into a dangerously thin line before opening them to speak. “I did,” he admitted, fully. “I’m ashamed to say so, but I did, Stella. So please, let it be.” He ran his hands through his hair, nearly wanting to rip it out, his voice reflecting his weariness and insecurities on the matter. I FELL OUT OF HEAVEN to be with you in Hell, my sin’s not quite seven Nothing much to tell He winced at the tightening of her muscles. Good, he should. It was the least he could do to show some damn concern for her, after everything he’d done. If she’d been her normal, cheery self like she’d been earlier this morning, she wouldn’t have wanted him to be so scared of her, but now, it was the best sight in the world. To think, she’d come all this way to make the beautiful morning better and now she was stuck with his horrible attitude and the horrible memories that followed it. A good gentleman was hard to come by nowadays, she supposed.
“That’s none of your concern, Stella,” he said, watching her like she was some wild dog about to shred apart whoever it was he thought he was in love with. Maybe she was about to, but it was all for his benefit, he just couldn’t see her true intentions. Hasn’t he realized that he’s been switching boyfriends and girlfriends left and right? Did he honestly think this newest relationship would last long? They never did. He’d grow tired of him or her eventually. He always did. She’d know, first hand. And that was the only time she was allowing him to be to so discreet about his desires. “Well excuse me for wanting to skip the pleasantries of meeting him in person.”
Yes, she knew well it was a “him.” She’d heard rumors just like everyone else. She didn’t like that he was watching her play with her dress. Suddenly, it felt like he could see past the material to the nude skin underneath. She leered at him, which seemed to do the trick. He took his sweet ass time thinking of a way to respond to her. Stella couldn’t understand what was taking so long; he knew the answer to her question just as well as she. Something beyond her vision scurried across what was most likely Magnus and Alec’s room. With a slight smile, despite the situation, she recognized it as the Chairman. He’d always been afraid of Stella for some reason and she’d always shrugged it off, not really sure of what she did or if she cared enough to change the relationship. Her attention returned to Kael when he began to speak. Why was he ashamed? Had he not enjoyed that night with her? And now he wanted her to drop the subject? No, not happening. “I’ll let it be on two conditions—well, three,” she said slowly. Hesitantly, she approached him again, slowly gaining the confidence and determination she was very well known for. She didn’t physically touch him, but she stood very close to him, looking up at him with her dark eyes. Before he could ask what her conditions were, Stella held up a hand to silence him. She took a deep breath and then let it out, collecting her thoughts to say them in a way he would understand. “All I want you to do,” she began, eyeing him as she spoke, “is admit that once, in some point in time, you did love me and you wanted me. That’s number one. Number two, you’ve made my morning a horrible one and you’re to atone for this by having a nice day with me, whether we go shopping or hang at home and watch a movie. And lastly, we are never to speak of the subject again.” Then, she smiled like her cheery self. Her prince was not to be in a sullen mood while in the company of his princess, after all. She didn’t want him to remember, she realized. She’d rather have a happy Kael than a regretful and aware one. Just for things to go back to how they usually were. She’d rather chase him than have him shut her out. “Okay? I don’t think that’s too much to ask for, right?” [/blockquote][/blockquote] --- Word Count: six five two Notes: AW KAEL </3 Hence why Stell's going easy on him...xD Tags: Kelly, honey Lyrics: Lust by Raveonettes Outfit: Stella-01

[ YOU MUST CRY TOO when you see the broken promises I’ve made you keep saying that I’ll trust you, though I seldom do. ------ ------ ------ “Well excuse me for wanting to skip the pleasantries of meeting him in person,” she said and Kael watched her. Great, she had an idea of who he was. She knew it was a “he”, which probably wasn’t making her calm down any sooner. She’d probably heard the rumors from the party. Someone was a blabbermouth and Kael made it his personal mission to find said blabbermouth and punish him. Did s/he know how much trouble Kael was getting into because of their big mouth? He shrugged in response to her statement, not sure he could say anything that wouldn’t make the scenario any less awkward.
She leered at him, which caused him to look away. Stella, uncomfortable? This didn’t happen often; only when she was in his presence. So why did she insist on loving him? As he looked away from her, he thought long and hard. This didn’t seem to fly by her all too well but her attention was quickly shifted from being annoyed at him to smiling at the Chairman, who’d subtly made his appearance. Kael found himself glaring at the cat, realizing idly why cats weren’t considered a man’s best friend; because they didn’t stick around while the alpha female troubled the alpha male. Now, had the Chairman been a dog, he would have been growling at Stella, possibly allowing Kael to avoid he situation all together. The thought was somewhat sweet, but before he could say anything else, he decided to be blunt and let her hear what she wanted to hear. That it was his fault; that everything was his fault.
Stella was finally starting to sound more like herself; conditions. A ghost of a smile made its way onto Kael’s lips, in recognition of her confidence regain…but then she listed all her conditions. Three of them, count, three. He was about to argue that three conditions hardly counted, but she stubbornly held up her hand to silence him and he found his mouth being closed as if she’d shut it herself. Her dark eyes were serious for a change, despite the change of light hearted attitude. He’d always found her eyes fascinating; not in that way; but in the way that they had hardly a pupil. Her eyes were purely black and he could see his image clearly in their reflection. He realized he looked slightly more tousled than usual; tired, and unnerving. He didn’t look like himself, like the self-assured Kael Bane he was known as. “All I want you to do is admit that once, in some point in time, you did love me and you wanted me.” Kael looked at her, a tad concerned. She knew that this was true, so why did she feel the need to hear him say it? Wasn’t it obvious enough from his actions?
He didn’t like seeing Stella reduced to such insecurities. It didn’t suit her. He took a deep breath and matched her gaze. “There wasn’t a man who didn’t want you, Estelle. I was no different. I loved you; I loved you so much that it scared me, but I ignored reason and then…well, you know the rest. I’m sure you don’t need me to remind you.”
“Number two, you’ve made my morning a horrible one and you’re to atone for this by having a nice day with me, whether we go shopping or hang at home and watch a movie.” Kael couldn’t help it, he laughed. Not because making her morning horrible was funny or anything, but the way she said it. Classic Stella. “Well excuse me, Princess,” he said, an earnest smile on his face. “And lastly, we are never to speak of the subject again.” He stopped laughing when he heard this. Never speak of it? He furrowed his brow, looked at her, and then registered what she actually meant. “Never speak of it as a means of forgetting it ever happened? I can’t do that, Stella. Neither can you.” But then he caught her gaze again and saw that giddy, cheery expression of hers. How could he—how could anyone say no to that? Kael sighed miserably, dramatically. “Fiiiiiine. Pick out a movie. I’m going to get my strawberry yogurt which you so rudely interrupted me from finishing.” He turned on his heels and headed into the kitchen, watching her out of the corner of his eye. She already looked happier as she basically skipped to the movie cabinet to retrieve the movie of her choice. I FELL OUT OF HEAVEN to be with you in Hell, my sin’s not quite seven Nothing much to tell She recognized his concern look, which only made Stella more frustrated at herself. She knew what he was thinking; that she was being insecure and so…mundane. It was sickening to think that should could reduce herself to such a level of discomfort. So that’s when she set her jaw and straightened her back, tightening her shoulders to stand up taller and prouder. “There wasn’t a man who didn’t want you, Estelle. I was no different.” She was left confused. Was he trying to comfort her now? It was sweet, but…why? He hadn’t made the attempt to do so before. Before she could raise the question, he continued on, saying how he was so in love with her that it scared him to be. She’d never meant to scare him; had she gone too fast for him? She’d been more experienced, after all, and after rethinking it, she realized she should have given him the benefit of the doubt. There were a million things she could have said, but she chose to ask, “Why were you scared?”
And then he laughed. She stared at him, her brow knitted together in puzzlement. Her mouth was slightly agape, she knew, she could feel it. Looking briefly from him, to the loft, to him again, Stella began to question the boy’s sanity. What did he find so amusing? “Well excuse me, Princess,” he said and Stella felt a small heat rise to her pale cheeks. That’d been the first time he called her princess and it sounded nice coming from his lips; made the word have a nicer ring to it. She didn’t reflect on this for a moment longer; she’d just asked Kael to forget about it. “You’re a character, Kelly,” she said sweetly. “Such a handful.” “Never speak of it again as a means of forgetting it ever happened?” he asked and Stella shook her head, even as he went on to explain that she wasn’t able to forget it either. “No…never speak of it as a means of starting over.” She smiled, almost emptily. Stella didn’t want to really start over, not like “let’s reintroduce ourselves” start over, but more of a “let’s start today over.” She wouldn’t trade being here with him for the world and if restarting was the only way to prolong their time together, she’d gladly forfeit. Pleading eyes begged him to cooperate, just this once, even though the word wasn’t entirely in his personal dictionary. His gaze met hers and she looked at him like a lost puppy. Finally, she won and he submitted with an elaborate sigh and “Fiiiiiine.” She laughed and clapped her hands together with a small “yay!” before merrily making her way to the cabinet where Magnus kept all his good movies. At the mention of strawberry yogurt, Stella perked up. “I want one, too!” she called to him, even though she was well aware that she could conjure one herself. She’d wind up taking it from their fridge anyway, so she didn’t see a point in wasting her energy to conjure it and since Kael was oh-so conveniently going into the kitchen, she figured the least he could do was pick her up one. Her attention turned back to the movie cabinet as she searched through the—oh shit, how many movies did they have?! Her eyes widened at the site of all the movies, arranged by genre. She giggled to herself; Alec must have been the last to clean up around here. Then again, it wasn’t Kael was going to lift a finger and Magnus was the same way. Her finger traced along the boxes, her lips pouting as she realized that she didn’t know what type of movie she wanted to watch. Normally, she would have settled on a horror movie, but she’d been nearly scared to death already today and once was enough, thank you. Then her finger traced along a title she honestly wasn’t expecting; but then again, this was the Bane residence. She grinned and shouted, “How about a chic-flick, Kelly? There’s already one in the DVD player, all I have to do is press ‘play’!” [/blockquote][/blockquote] --- Word Count: seven zero one Notes: I knowwww! So cute! [ YOU MUST CRY TOO when you see the broken promises I’ve made you keep saying that I’ll trust you, though I seldom do. ------ ------ ------ “Why were you scared?” she asked and Kael averted his gaze. He’d always been told to look before he leaped, to think before he spoke, but had he listened? No, of course not, because Kael was Kael and he always assumed that he was taking charge, that he had absolute control over every single little thing. This time, he was getting too ahead of himself to think clearly, which led him faced with a difficult question. He closed his eyes, raked a hand through his hair as he regarded her. A sigh escaped his lips, as if all his weariness just couldn’t be held in any longer. This had been a question he’d been dodging even back then; even when they’d been dating. He dodged it from himself, from that little voice in his head that he loathed. But he couldn’t dodge Stella. “Who wouldn’t be?”
he asked instead, “With you as their girlfriend? I always felt like I wasn’t good enough for you. I was young, inexperienced with hardly an identity for myself…I never thought you’d fall in love with me. In fact, I can’t believe you still are. That’s why I pushed myself. I had to prove to you that I was worth your every glance. That’s why…” Either he was running out of breath from speaking so fast or his words caught up to him, because his voice trailed off, his thought unfinished. He took a deep breath and decided to submit to her wishes and drop it all together. Her questioning his sanity only made him laugh harder. What a priceless face! Slowly her attention was brought from nowhere back to him, not a moment too soon as he calmed his little fits of laughter. What made him stop was the brightened hue of her cheeks and he smiled, but said nothing, because Stella was the type of girl you weren’t supposed to point out her blushing to. It’d make her get more flustered and angry and an angry Stella was the equivalent of a teenage mundane girl during that special time of the month…only ten times worse. “You’re a character, Kelly,” she said and then added that he was a handful. “For the last time, Esty, my name is not ‘Kelly’!” he said, coming up with an equally deterring name for her. “And if anyone’s a handful, Missy, it’s you.” He smirked. Kael was happy when she suggested they start the day over. He nodded and then noticed her puppy expression. Like most girls’, it wasn’t easy to ignore—in fact, it was impossible, which resulted in his prima donna sigh. It was worth it, to see her chipper clapping and hear her exclaim like a little girl in the candy store. He shook his head and headed towards the kitchen. Not long after he got in it did he hear her shout that she wanted one too. “But it’s my strawberry yogurt!” he shouted/complained, much like a boy in the cafeteria after he’d been forced into trading sandwiches with the school bully. “You can have the banana one! I don’t like banana!” He made a face by just saying the word “banana.” It was a flavor he did not enjoy; it was so plain and pasty and—ew! He regained possession of his strawberry yogurt, licking the spoon clean before sticking it back into the cup to make room to carry dear old Stella’s. He opened the fridge with his magic and dug out the banana yogurt. What, you thought he was kidding when he said she was getting banana? Ha, no. Like hell Kael was forfeiting his strawberry yogurt! Not even Magnus was allowed to touch it! He found it and then shut the fridge door with his hip, hearing it shut, just in time to hear her ask if he wanted to watch a chic-flick. Great, so she’d found Magnus’ stash of movies? “YOU DO, YOU DIE!” he yelled back. Kael set her banana yogurt on the coffee table and then took a seat, propping his legs up on the same coffee table, away from her yogurt of course—he wasn’t that inconsiderate. He dug his spoon in and stuck it in his mouth, licking the spoon completely dry of yogurt. “Just put Van Helsing on,” he said, spotting the cover and pointing to it with his spoon, waving the utensil as he did so. I FELL OUT OF HEAVEN to be with you in Hell, my sin’s not quite seven Nothing much to tell Stells watched for his reaction, how uncomfortable he’d been growing by the minute. She hadn’t noticed before and it made her study him more concretely. How long had he been struggling with this question? To get him so stressed out about it? She watched as he guided a hand through his soft hair, wishing for a moment that it was her hand through his mane and not his own. His loud, painful sigh brought her back to reality, made her stare at him seriously. “Who wouldn’t be? With you as their girlfriend?” What was that supposed to mean? Stella knew she was a difficult girl; she’d made herself that way on purpose, as not to be taken advantage of, to be more careful and to force people to prove their devotion to her. Kael had passed all those tests once and he’d still managed to—no, not now, not after things were settling down between them. With bated breath, she listened as he went on. “I always felt like I wasn’t good enough for you. I was young, inexperienced with hardly an identity for myself…I never thought you’d fall in love with me. In fact, I can’t believe you still are.” Her eyes widened to his heart felt explanation. “Kael…it didn’t matter to me how old you were. Age is but a number for people like us, you should know that…And of course you had an identity: you were Kael Bane, the child who took the Down World by storm. No one thought Magnus would devote himself to a child like you—no offense, of course, but…you know…he’s never really been that type of warlock. That’s why I offered my love to you; because if the great Magnus Bane saw something in you, then I could too and I did. I still see it. You don’t and that makes me very sad, Kael. You never had to prove yourself to be with me. You idiot, you were always there, right beside me.”
But he’d dropped the subject, so with a winsome smile, she didn’t say anything more. She let him take it all in. She imagined that this was one of the reasons they didn’t work out; because it wasn’t until things really got heated did they talk it out. Kael may have been outwardly social, but he was an introverted person when all his glamour and glitter was removed. She was the same and the lack of communication didn’t to rebuild the relationship when it needed rebuilding most of all. But that was okay, wasn’t it? Because if they hadn’t split, they wouldn’t have been talking so earnestly to one another. All their feelings and truths coming out at one moment, it was a nice feeling; like a giant weight lifted off her shoulders. “For the last time, Esty, my name is not ‘Kelly’!” She wrinkled her nose at the choice of name, not liking at all how it sounded. It made her sound like an old grandmother with ten cats, which she was not. She was a perfectly young woman with a turtle. In all honesty, she didn’t understand why he didn’t like the nickname. It was cute and it made him sound as playful as he really was. Maybe he didn’t like being deemed as “cute.” “Obviously. That’s why it’s called a nickname and I’ll make you a deal: I won’t call you ‘Kelly’ if you never repeat the name ‘Esty’,” shuddering slightly as she repeated the nickname he’d bestowed upon her. As she opened the movie cabinet, she heard Kael shout about the strawberry one being his like he was some two year old. This caused her to roll her eyes and shake her head. Of course it was; how could she have thought anything else? Then he went on to shout that she could have the banana one and she made a face equal to if she smelled a dead body. “But the banana one is disgusting!” she replied. “Unless you have the little nut-sprinkle things that come with it!” Stella openly laughed at his reply to her suggestion of a chic-flick. He was so dramatic! She tried to stop her laughing when she heard the kitchen door suddenly kick open, but his reaction only provoked more laughter. She went back to looking for DVDs by the time he offered a movie. She paused, turned to him quizzically and then chuckled. “You’re such a boy!” she said and then popped in the appropriate DVD. When she was certain it’d play, she stood up and brushed her dress off, grabbing her yogurt and spoon and sitting on the couch next to him—but not too close, seeing as they’d just agreed to have a nice, non flirtatious day. “Why do you like this movie, anyway?” she asked, plainly curious.
