Appearance:
Daegan is pretty average looking, with his pale skin, longish black hair that falls in his piercing blue eyes. He's tall, around 6 feet, and probably thinner than he should be. From time to time, you’ll see a set of snake bite piercings protruding from his bottom like. Reasonably normal for a young guy, right? But of course, that isn’t everything. As a warlock, Daegan naturally has something about him that keeps him from looking too human. In this case, it’s snake skin. Patches of it scattered about his body. The backs of both of his hands as well as one side of his stomach, a thigh, the side of his arm and the back of one of his shoulders. Better seen here, his patches of skin are almost all easy to cover, excluding his hands, of course, the fact that he wears gloves nearly every day takes care of that though.
Likes:
organization, photography, girls, guys, roses, having a task to complete, school, animals, loud people, music, darkness, the sky, piercings, dark clothing, gloves, snakes, alcohol, dancing.
Dislikes:
water/swimming, messes, homophobes, drinking plain water, spiders, meat, colorful clothing, being told what to do, silence, uncertainty, carpet, hot weather, hair cuts, tattoos, his skin, his mother, his step-father.
Personality:
In high school, Daegan was that mysterious kid that sat in the corner, the one with the piercings in his lip, the hair that covered his eyes, and that wore long sleeves every day, even in the summer. He was the one that showed up for graduation, then no one in his class every saw him again. This wasn’t because he didn’t like school. Quite the opposite. Daegan loves learning, as cheesy and nerdy as it sounds, he’s incredibly smart. People would have been shocked to see the grades he made, because the way people see him isn’t what he’s actually like at all. Still, School is important to him. He’s very vehement about staying in school, because warlock or not, he refuses to drop out the way his mother did, he’s just determined like that.
He’s always been a bit rebellious, he doesn’t deal well with authority. He went out of his way to disobey his mother’s simplest rules when he was younger, and that’s carried through with him as he’s gotten older. He doesn’t do well with being told what to do, and especially not with being told what not to do. Telling him he isn’t allowed to do something or that he isn’t able to do something is basically the easiest way to ensure that he’ll do it. That also brought along his lack of manners. Dae isn’t really rude per se, but he has no filter when it comes to what’s politically correct or not, and he’s far beyond censoring his language if it offends someone, not because he’s rude, just because he doesn’t really realize that it matters. He doesn’t usually particularly care about what people think of him, he’s very self-conscious over his snake skin. He’s had it drilled in his head since birth that it was a disgusting irregularity, thanks to his mother, so he keeps it covered and pretends it isn’t there, The same as he did with his powers.
Daegan doesn’t make friends easily, or rather, He feels much more at home in a room of strangers than a room of people that he knows. This is what makes it easy for him to go to a club or one of Magnus’s parties and let loose, because he doesn’t have to worry about seeing those people again...or even them remembering it next day, most of the time. Talking to people he knows though, like Alec and Magnus even, he’s more quiet, the transformation is incredible really, though it might simply be that he opens up better in crowds and one on one situations freak him out. He’s a bit reserved when it comes to his powers. He’s the complete opposite of Kael, in that he’s overly careful about training. He doesn’t know where his limits are because he hasn’t gone anywhere near them. He prefers to be comfortable with something and then stop, rather than pushing it. He knows that he has the potential to be extremely powerful and that terrifies him.
Family:
Mother: Victoria (Laroque) Lawson
Step-Father: Parker Lawson
Guardians: Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood
Others of Importance: Kael Bane
History:
It wasn’t a usual beginning for a life, well...unless you were a warlock. For the shadow world, it was an everyday story, mundane prostitute sleeps with a demon in disguise and BAM. Warlock baby. Of course, for Victoria Laroque, it was more of a nightmare than a storybook ending. Her frustrations of course, started with getting pregnant. It wasn’t something she’d wanted. Not at the time, and not ever. Then of course...the child was born. It was bad enough being a single mother, and worse being poor, then her baby....it turned out to be a freak. She hadn’t had the baby in a hospital, hich turned out to be a good thing when the child arrived with patches of green skin all over it, skin that just happened to be covered in snake scales. She blamed the defection on her drugs, and while she hadn’t wanted the child in the first place, Daegan’s deformation was enough to convince her that she needed to get clean.
Daegan didn’t get very much attention as a child, his mother from the start had never taken much interest in him past giving him the bare necessities, meaning, making sure he had food and clothes that would cover that hideous skin. She got cleaned up by the time he was three, got her GED, and a job at the nearest grocery store, and eventually was able to keep him fed and pay the rent at the same time, but she’d never really thought of Daegan as hers...he was more like “The child I have to take care of.” Her disconnection with him only became worse when strange things started to happen around him. He’d be following her around the grocery store and things he wanted would end up in her cart without him touching them. When he was angry, or cried, everything in the apartment would turn on, faucets, lights, their tiny television. Then of course, there were the green sparks....the ones that surrounded him when he was scared. It terrified her, and it made her angry, so Daegan learned to control it, or rather, to make it stop. That was the only control he ever had over his powers, pushing them down, holding them back, because they weren’t good and they certainly weren’t normal.
Around the same time Daegan started middle school, (where he had little to no friends, yet made some of the best grades in his class) his mother started dating around, having decided that she didn’t want to deal with this all alone anymore. She’d wait until a man was interested in her enough, then allow them to meet her strange son. Daegan never made a good impression. They all saw him, and were never seen again. Eventually, a different reaction came, from one Parker Lawson, he had money, and that was all that Victoria had ever really wanted, so she warned him from the start, that her son was a freak, for once, he didn’t leave. He simply turned his nose up at Dae, as though he was a pest that needed to be gotten rid. And that’s just what they did. They got married, with the promise between them, that Daegan would be leaving the day he turned 18, and so he did.
He’d seen it coming. They hadn’t told him, but Dae knew that he wasn’t going to be welcome in their home any longer than they legally had to keep him, so he’d spent the week leading up to his birthday making sure he had a way to take everything he’d want with him when he left, and he was greeted the morning of September 22nd with a grim smile from his Mother, and a grocery bag from his step father, containing a fifty dollar bill, a bottle of lotion for that nasty rash and a note scribbled on the receipt: Happy Birthday, Good Luck.” And with that he left his home in The Bronx, everything he needed or owned in a backpack on his shoulders and fifty bucks in his pocket. He used the money to head south, further into New York, and found himself at Taki’s where for once...when he took of his gloves, no one batted an eye. He was finally normal...or at least he fit in with everyone else. His confusion drew some interest from a waitress there, and he was soon directed to Magnus Bane, who would apparently have answers to all of his questions.
As it turned out, after wandering around looking for the Bane residence in a strange part of the city, Magnus Bane, a particularly interesting character, did indeed have the answers he was looking for. He’d been let inside and introduced to Magus’s boyfriend Alec, and their son, Kael, Not knowing, at the time, that they’d soon become his new family....and one that actually felt like a family. After showing them his scaly skin, Magnus quickly begun to explain to him what he was and what he could do, while Alec gave him a quick lesson in the Shadow World. By the time they’d finished explaining things, and he’d finished telling them about his situation they insisted that he sleep on their couch, and the next day, the couple set up a place for him to stay just down the street, informing him, rather than offering him, that they’d give him a place to stay and help him learn to control his powers. It seemed like a quite an opportunity, so he was quick to agree, with the one condition that he be able to transfer into the local high school and finish his senior year.
That was nearly five years ago, and at this point, he’s still staying in Brooklyn and being supported by the Banes, he’s enrolled on scholarship at NYU, studying English and he’s still training, alongside Kael, in an attempt to bring his powers back to their full potential after years of attempting to contain and suffocate them.

sample.Lizabet waved to Zemfira as they parted ways, heading to separate classes, though surely they’d meet up again later. Probably at dinner if not sooner. It wasn’t like Liz had studying or anything to do. Sure, she had her NEWTs....pretty freaking soon, but she wasn’t worried about it. The only one she needed to do well in was divination and well...she was a seer. Divination class couldn’t come easier to anyone than it came to Liz. She hadn’t even opened the book and yet she knew nearly everything they’d been taught in that class. Perhaps it was something that was inside her. She never knew the grandmother from whom she’d received the seer blood, only that she was extremely powerful, and Liz wasn’t sure if she wanted to know, because apparently, the visions and freaking all knowing-ness had been behind her death. It wasn’t something Lizabet wanted to ponder for too long at a time. Her fear of that even kept her from talking about her...ability to anyone. She was afraid that they would want her to try to learn to control it, and it would tell her things she didn’t want to know. She wished more than anything else in the world...that the future’s mysteries would stay mysteries.....at least until they were the present. Liz certainly didn’t want to know.
So she wiped it from her mind, something that she was rather good at, and scanned the crowd of students in the hallway. She spotted a boy that she vaguely recognized-maybe she’d slept with him?- and she knew he was in her history of magic class, so she tugged a lemon flavored lollie out of her bag and pulled off the plastic, popping it in her mouth as she moved herself to his unoccupied side and draped an arm around his waist, smiling innocently as he looked over at her in surprised. She slowly pulled the lollie out of her mouth ”walk me to class?” she asked in a sweet, low voice. Unsurprisingly, he nodded willingly and put his free arm around her shoulder, and she walked to class with this Lowe....whatever his name was. He just had on a red striped tie, so that was all she knew. As they walked, she continued eating her lollie, giving him a nice show, and certainly not complaining as his hand slid lower with every step. When they’d entered the classroom, she pulled his hand from her ass and went up oh her tip toes to whisper in his ear, ”meet me by the door to nowhere after dinner?” her voice came seductively in his ear before she stepped away, swinging her hips carelessly as she wandered to a desk in back of the room, without a glance back.
She also didn’t glance up to the front of the room in search of a professor. He was always there, every singe fucking class, he was there, and she spent every second of every class acting painfully oblivious to the fact that her brother was the teacher. She didn’t look at him, she didn’t take notes, and when she turned in assignments she put in just as much effort as any other class...which was basically none. In other words....history of magic was just another class. Not the one reason she ever had to face her brother after years of ignoring him. She figured...if he could ignore her while their father was doing what he was doing...well, she could ignore him for the rest of their lives. So she pulled out a notebook and some ink, thinking maybe she’ll write a nice dirty little note to that Lowe during class today. The bracelet Roman had sent her for Christmas this year jingled against her inkwell and she put her hand on it to stop the noise before looking away quickly. She didn’t know why she wore the bracelet. Honestly, she wasn’t even sure why she’d even opened it, after all these years of getting rid of them without even glancing past the name. This one just felt different. Maybe a part of her wanted to know why he’d never stopped trying...

This character application was made by danger (aka pixified of caution 2.0). The lyrics are from the song “telephone”, which belongs to Lady Gaga. I don’t claim those. But all the rest is mine. Just because I didn’t post it on caution doesn’t make it not mine. Do not remove or edit this credit under any circumstances. Just don’t. I really don’t want to have to dig my shotgun out of the closet and come hunt you down for stealing all of my hard work.
