[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #f1f1f1] come to wonderland where never, never finds you, your one enchanted night of dreams disguised in swirling lights
Dae wasn’t like Kael. In few ways, sure they were very similar, mothers that didn’t want them, fathers demonic in nature and apparently an affection for one another that they’d never bothered to measure up until now, but when it came to other things…they couldn’t be more different. Dae envied Kael sometimes. And he knew that he shouldn’t, because it wasn’t right to feel that way, especially about a friend. But he was jealous that he’d had Magnus and Alec to raise him, whether they were his parents or not they were incredible people, and they’d both rubbed off on him in a perfect way. Dae hadn’t had that. There had been his mother, and her indifference, then his stepfather and his hatred. And no one ever cared while he was there, and no one ever cared when he left, until he’d come here. It wasn’t like him to feel bad about his past. There were people far worse off, so all he felt allowed to do was be happy with what he had. But their past wasn’t the clear difference between the two of them. It was their disposition that set them apart more than anything.
Kael was confident. And Daegan was….comfortable in his anonymity. He wasn’t the attention drawer that Kael was, he tended to cover up things that made him stand out and stay carefully away from the spotlight. He was perfectly capable of letting loose, sure, but only around people he didn’t know. As long as they didn’t have a name to put with his face, he could care less what they saw of him. But even around people like Magnus and Alec he couldn’t put it all out there. That was why he wore gloves to training sessions and almost never used his powers outside of the Bane home. He’d lived long enough without them that he wasn’t reliant on them, he wasn’t even comfortable with them, even though he’d been given years to attempt to grow into the fact that he was a warlock, he could use magic and he was more powerful than the people that had been in control of him for the majority of his life.
That wasn’t to say he was more powerful that Kael. That would have been a sad joke. He didn’t understand it entirely, but he could tell from the way people always looked at his companion, like they expected something stunning to come from somewhere deep within him at any moment. Dae tried not to see him that way, even with the way that Magnus pushed him…it was clear that Kael was something special. Of course…Daegan thought so no matter what. He could be mudane, nephilim, a werewolf or anything else and Dae would still think the world of him. As it was, he was glad that the boy was a warlock, because otherwise he didn’t think he’d have come as far as he had. He’d never be here, bare hands against this beautiful boy, breathing deeply and missing the contact much more than he’d missed the sensation of breathing when they were joined at the lips. His mouth tingled and he couldn’t convince his heart to calm down.
A quiet gasp left his mouth as Kael’s lips brushed over his ear and the blush on his face was maintained, fading slightly as Kael pulled away, looking dissatisfied with his words. The slight frown in the dim light brought Dae down from the immediate high kissing Kael had given him, and more than anything, he wanted it back. He ran a hand through his own hair at the boy’s words. He began to apologize, but then realized that probably wouldn’t make his situation any better. Kael wanted him to put himself out there because he knew Dae had trouble with things like that. ”I just…couldn’t stand the thought of being rejected by you, of all people…” |
[/color] he said quietly, hoping that Kael knew what he meant by that. If he got rejected by one of the people he trusted most…where was he to go from there? He looked at the neutral expression on Kael’s face, wanting nothing more that to see him smile…or feel him smile, rather. He knew what was happening here, Kael wanted him to initiate this if it was to go any further… It was easier knowing that Kael would kiss him back, but still nerve wracking as he pushed Kael backwards towards the counter of the kitchen and rested one hand against the countertop on either side of him, bringing their lips back together earnestly. It was confidence that Kael wanted, and as scary as it was…it was confidence he’d get. Hammering hearts and panting breaths erupted into a wonderful symphony in his ears. A warlock’s heart was supposedly more stable than a human’s; it beat slower and steadier, or at least, Alec had always told him so. Kael wouldn’t know. He couldn’t say he paid much attention to the beating heart of a mundane. With both of their hearts beating faster than they could control, Kael wondered idly if this is how fast a human heart beat, or was it faster? Could all of their passion not even rival with that of a human’s? He didn’t want to think about it, but that bastardly little voice inside his head kept going.
He’d been told more than once that he couldn’t feel what was never given to him, that it couldn’t even compare to true human emotion. He’d been told he was more demonic than human, more concerned with his selfish desires than others’, but didn't this make him human? He didn’t know of a greedier race than humans…other than demons, which brought him back to the earlier statement. He’d been told he shouldn’t feel as if he were Magnus’ son, because he wasn’t and it wasn’t possible for a warlock to know the feeling of parenthood since they were incapable of producing children. It’d kept him up many nights, wondering just how Magnus felt about it, if he’d become an annoyance over the years, if he wanted him anymore. He’d also been told not to love so easily, for a warlock never loved; he used and destroyed.
But destroying Daegan wasn’t on Kael’s list of things to do in his lifetime. “Fuck off,”
[/i] he growled, inwardly warding off that devilish voice that crept into his head from time to time. The same one that was telling him not to hold this boy in his arms and to let go, that he was hurting him, tearing him apart. Sickeningly, he heard it laugh and then it left him in peace. He smiled when he heard Dae’s gasp. Honestly, he should have learned to expect the unexpected by now, even before Kael had told him to do so. This included him pulling away, feeling slightly baffled by what he said next. He was afraid of Kael rejecting him? Seriously? Kael has rejected a lot of people in his life time, admittedly, but Dae? Maybe, at one point, he would have rejected his feelings for him simply because Kael Matthew Bane was stubborn and he would have refused to acknowledge his own feelings for the other boy. And that’s what he did when he felt uncomfortable or unsure: he put people in their places and made them feel miserable. It was a bad habit he’d always had, truthfully. But as of late? Even if he did reject him, it wouldn’t have changed anything…would it? He wouldn’t have done anything vicious to Daegan like he did to other people. But then again, Dae was always an exception to Kael’s rules and standards. It was a given, at this point. Funny, how he always managed to be an exception and Kael hadn’t noticed until now. So funny, in fact, that Kael cracked a small smile. Under normal circumstances, he would have laughed, but that wouldn’t have helped the situation at all, now would it? “Have a little faith,”[/b] he said, taking his hands and drawing him closer. That should get the ball rolling. And it did, beautifully. Surprised by his determination, Kael stumbled backwards until the small of his back his something hard and cold. He grunted, the impact sending a chilling pain up his back. He recognized it as the counter and before he could remark about how feisty he’d gotten, Dae pressed their lips together, trapping him in his hold by placing his hands on either side of him. It was evident to see—or rather, feel—who the better kisser was here, but Kelly had no problem being his practice. Especially if it meant being physical. His thoughts caught up to his actions as he fisted the material of Dae’s shirt and drew him closer, his hands resting on his chest and slowly moving their way down to his waist, where they stayed until Kael wasn’t preoccupied with gaining entrance into Dae’s mouth. Stubborn, stubborn Kael got what he wanted and their kisses turned into a dance of teeth, lips, and tongues. A moan escaped Dae’s lips and this caused Kael to smile and kiss him more energetically— Until he heard a crash and then a bang. He knew exactly what it was, of course, and this caused him to once again reluctantly separate their lips and let out a rather annoyed, large, and prolonged groan. “CAN’T YOU PEOPLE GO TWO MINUTES WITHOUT BREAKING SOMETHING?! I SWEAR IF THAT WAS MAGNUS’ VASE, HEADS ARE GONNA ROLL!” [/b]he screamed, knowing full well the party-goers could hear him through the kitchen walls. It was hard to ignore Kael, after all. [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: #f1f1f1] come to wonderland where never, never finds you, your one enchanted night of dreams disguised in swirling lights
It had been a shock for Daegan, learning that he wasn’t actually human. Of course, at this point, he asks himself how he never let himself think something like that. After all, he did have snake skin all over his body, and his fingers shot out green sparks when he was angry…but when you don’t think something like that is possible…you have to think you’re human because what else could you be? Besides, he had enough problems with his mother thinking that he was an abomination or a mutant or something. It was her that made him wear gloves at first, when he started school, giving an excuse of a terrible allergy to latex or some such nonsense. She’d told him to never take them off because people couldn’t know what was under them, it was a secret. Later of course, he learned that she was ashamed of it, so he quickly became ashamed as well, and the ball had kept rolling from there. School was strange for him, he was smart, very much so, his marks passed the other students his age by far and he outran them all in gym or any sport, though he never made any friends, because he wouldn’t let anyone too close.
He’d never let anyone too close until now. Now that he was part of a world that actually made sense, where his abnormalities weren’t something to be ashamed of…but maybe even flaunted. Now that he’d been added into this strange family unit that wanted nothing more for him than to be himself. Now that he was pressed up against Kael in a way that he’d guiltily thought about a number of times in the past. Now that a moan was leaving his throat and his heartbeat was reaching nearly 45 or 50 beats per minute which...was admittedly pretty fast if you thought about it, for a warlock at least. Now…he was letting someone in.
He was letting someone in and it was terrifying. Partly because he’d never done this before. Make out with someone, yes sure, but he typically wouldn’t have even know their name and he may or may not be drunk out of his mind at the time…of course, that was back in high school, and he’d calmed down a bit since then, especially since there were actually people to notice if he disappeared now. What he hadn’t done before was have feelings for someone…if of course, that was what was happening here…though he wasn’t particularly sure. It was also terrifying because…well this was Kael, and if anyone would take this beyond Daegan’s comfort level, it would be Kael. It scared him that doing this meant that the other boy wouldn’t hesitate to push his boundaries. Obviously, he’d kissed Dae, so Kael wasn’t afraid to take chances with him. It made Daegan want to push back, hence his hasty reinitiating of the kiss. It had certainly been a while since the younger warlock has kissed someone like this, and though it wasn’t the first time by far, it didn’t feel the same. Random makeouts with strangers in the back of mundane clubs or college parties never gave him quite this thrill. Maybe because he was doing what, to him, was unheard of, he was being physical with someone he knew, someone he’d see again after this…that was entirely new to him.
He pulled back reluctantly, lips red and swollen and his clothing mussed from the kiss. He couldn’t help but grin in spite of the situation. Someone was about to get hell and he was immediately thankful for being the type to stay on the Banes’ good sides. He looked at a frustrated Kael and titlted his head, unsure of exactly what to say. ”Go, take care of things? I’ll be here when you’re done?” |
[/color] he suggested, raising an eyebrow. The crowd was still so hushed on the other side of the door that he felt they could probably hear this conversation through it. Kael knew his darling little Dae was, in the littlest bit, scared of what was happening. Hell, Kael himself was slightly petrified. He wasn’t used to devoting himself to people; it was just something he didn’t do. Devotion meant loyalty and Kael wasn’t loyal to anyone but himself…Okay, okay, and Magnus and Alec, but mostly himself. This lesson was one of the first things Magnus taught him: that he couldn’t trust anyone but himself, that even though Magnus and Alec would be there for him, he shouldn’t rely on them. Doing that wasn’t fair to both them, and himself. It was also unnatural for a Downwordler and though the advice might have been borderline cruel, it was Magnus’ way of caring. To ensure that Kael would survive. And because of this and his greed, most of the time, he preyed on pretty mundanes and occupied his time with them. It was just something he did; that was the safest thing. It was safe because he could love for how many hours and then ensure himself that there was nothing there to begin with. It was easier to leave people that way, but he knew that there was no leaving Daegan. He’d never left him before, anyhow.
He grinned slightly at the sight of Daegan’s swollen lips and ruffled hair and clothing. He mentally patted himself on the back for being so damn good at this. Surely, it was an experience Dae had never had before and best of all, Kael was the one to give it to him. Seeing the other boy grin only made Kael want to take him and off to his bedroom, but he contained himself. There was a matter that needed addressing. “Go take care of things? I’ll be here when you’re done?” Aw, so cute and innocent. He still thought that after that little fit of passion they were still good in the kitchen. Nu-uh. Public party over, private party pending.
With a dramatic rolling of his eyes, Kael detached himself from his lover (that sounded so right to say) and with an apologetic smile, fluidly released himself from his pinned confinement against the counter, pecked him on the cheek, and made his way to the living room. He made sure to purposely heavy his steps so that the partygoers knew he was coming.
To his amusement, some of them started running to the door, but grinning like a mad man, Kael magically shut and warded the door. A vampire who had been leading the escape-attempt group turned around and looked petrified. Oh-ho, so he was the one to break the vase? Poor bastard. When Kael promised heads were gonna roll, heads were gonna roll. Casually, and containing his impending laughter, Kael strode over to a silver couch he’d specifically conjured for the evening, and sat down upon it, sprawling his legs out with an eyebrow raised.
“No one’s leaving until someone fesses up,”
[/b] he said, sounding quite like a high school teacher, or so he thought. Kael had never been to high school, was never given the chance, so he wouldn’t know. “Or, whoever tells me who did it will receive an award from yours truly.”[/b] Mean? Eh, maybe. Effective? Most definitely. Immediately, everyone’s head turned to the vampire and he stiffened. Kael smirked. “Now, either you owe my father a new vase…or your life, so I suggest you choose wisely,”[/b] Kael said, much too innocently for the situation, but the vampire seemed to get the message and when Kael allowed him to, he ran out of the loft. “As for you tattle-tales…EVERYONE OUT! NOW!”[/b] he yelled and received numerous groans and disagreements. Kael’s eyebrow twitched from annoyance. Didn’t these people know when they were overstaying their welcome? “NOW! OR THE CHAIRMAN GETS A FREE DINNER!”[/b] Well, that did it. Everyone scurried out like rats and Kael had to refrain himself from telling the people that “the Chairman” was actually his Magnus’ mouse-sized cat. When everyone was out, Kael sauntered back into the kitchen and leaned against the doorframe, or, where the door would be, had this building not been constructed like a loft. His smirk rivaled Magnus’. “It’s just you and me, handsome, and I believe my sofa has our names on it.”[/b] [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote] Word Count: seven one seven Tags: Dae/Open Notes: I DO TOO! <3 I'll be more active, I promise! =] Outfit: Minimal Effort [/right][/justify]
